Have just, last night, returned from participating in the Gardening World Cup in Nagasaki, Japan - for which we were awarded a silver medal. The setting was the truly extraordinary Huis ten Bosch, which is an enormous (about the size of Somerset West) and faithful reconstruction of a typical Dutch town, down to the last detail. For more pics, go to the Nagasaki page.

Getting around in Huis ten Bosch
We were awarded a silver medal for our efforts. Our Japanese hosts were wonderfully hospitable and generous- and it was hard work!

The construction involved the use of cement blocks and bent piping

Last minute construction of a kokerboom replica made from metal piping, bark and woven raffia

Ndebele wall with the design made from recycled plastic
